By now you've probably seen it. Donald Trump has a weave. The hair? Fuller, thicker, and apparently he's got a new blonde balayage situation happening. And he can no longer hide it.
The speculation is everywhere. Wig. Weave. Extensions. Half wig. Hair system. Whatever it is, and we're not here to confirm or deny. What struck us wasn't the hair itself, it was the response to it.
Because Trump has denied it. Consistently. For years. And that right there is the thing we actually want to talk about.
The Culture of Hair Shame Is Real. And It Goes All the Way to the Top — And Over Our Heads, Even Though It's Right On It.
Here is a man with access to the best of everything: stylists, products, technology, resources, that most of us will never see and he still feels the need to deny wanting more hair. To hide it. To perform naturalness around something that millions of people do every single day without apology.
If that doesn't tell you something about the culture of shame that exists around hair then we don't know what will.
And it isn't just Trump. It's a symptom of something much bigger. A set of beauty standards so narrow, so specific, and so constantly shifting that most of us have spent years feeling excluded by them. The standard that tells you your hair has to be a certain length to be beautiful. That thicker hair gets charged more at the salon. That braids aren't a professional style. And somewhere in all of that noise, a lot of us learned to reject our own hair. To see it as something to fix, to hide, to apologise for before we even had the chance to decide what we actually wanted it to be.

Think about the way we use clothes. At their most fundamental, clothes exist to cover us but fashion turned that covering into expression. The same fabric that conceals also reveals. What you choose to wear, how you choose to wear it, is a statement about who you are on any given day. Not who the standard says you should be.

And wanting more of it, more length, more volume, more texture, more presence is not vanity. It is not a weakness. It is an act of reclaiming. Of deciding for yourself what beauty means to you, rather than letting a standard decide it for you.
